The Tent Foundation is a non-profit organization mobilizing the private sector to improve the lives and livelihoods of the more than 20 million people who have been forcibly displaced from their homes. We designed a tote bag for TENT for a special event hosted in New York during UN week.
As we are moved and inspired by the creativity and resourcefulness of the humans we interact with, We want to share their stories through their unique creativity and self-expression. This is why we chose art workshops as a method of design.
When starting off our work, we developed art therapy sessions with displaced Syrian children living in Istanbul.
The images that flowed from the imaginations of the children related to their experiences of war, immigration, chaos and living in refugee camps were expressed through print-art activity and re-interpreted to become design of the bags.
We ensure that fair trade principles are adhered to every step of the production chain and all the materials used are environmentally friendly. In other words, all process relating to this tote bag’s production is designed with a sustainability mindset. It is made of 100% certified heavy organic cotton, made in our ateliers in Istanbul, Turkey.
